Working Activities Each day you will meet with your supervisor to be given the tasks of the day. You will be taken, at least in the first instance, to the location and provided with and shown how to operate the necessary equipment and materials. Your daily hours, including break times, will also be discussed. At the end of each day, the group will meet with your supervisor(s) to discuss daily progress, any problems that have occurred and how best they might be resolved and to forward plan. All those coming to this project have to be clear that the basic needs of daily life must come first and many of those are entirely routine, functional, hard work and dirty. They are, however, essential to ensuring the welfare of the animals. Working on this project is dirty and dusty. You must be prepared for this. When you are working with the animals, you are required to prepare their food. This will mean cutting and handling fresh meat etc. This may not be for the "faint-hearted"! Please note that we cannot guarantee that our working guests will directly work with the animals every day, but there will be many situations where they (guests) are required to feed animals, assist in relocation and monitor animals for scientific purposes
Accomodation Your accomodation will be in a Wendy House or in the volunteer house. The Wendy Houses are wooden cabins with a bedroom bathroom and small kitchen area. If need be, single working guests will be asked to share. We will ensure that same sex sharing takes place. The Wendy Houses are situated within easy reach of the central area. Harnas will supply towels and bed linen. The volunteer house is situated directly next to the farm house and has several bed- and bathrooms that have to be shared too, if needed. Towels and bed linen will be provided by the project.
Is this project for me? This project is not only for those who wish to work alongside Africa's great predators, but also for those people who wish to make a meaningful contribution to the conservation of these animals in Namibia. For anyone looking for an unforgettable holiday working alongside Africa's most respected animals, this is the perfect project. Leave with amazing memories whilst helping this family run institute to reach their dream and preserve some of the most endangered predators in Africa.
