VOLUNTEER WORK AND CONTRIBUTION
The Volunteer work in the project can be divided into three main social programs:
1. The Educational Program:
1.1 Assisting qualified educators in their classes:
· Copying
· Marking student books
· Reading activities
· Songs and Rhymes
· Covering student books
· Story time
· Support weaker students individually
· Opportunity to present lessons using area of expertise
· Art activities
· Memorization activities
1.2 Extra Mural Activities
· Athletics (Jan, Feb, March April)
· Netball and Soccer (May, June, July)
· Concert – Drama, acting and dancing (Aug, Sept, Oct)
· Cross Country (Oct, Nov)
2. The Outreach Program
2.1 Applied Research
- Mapping villages – villages are not mapped and has no structure.
- Visit village homes and complete questionnaire of community members for statistics.
- Numbering houses – fixing numbers onto houses
- Naming streets – putting up street-name boards.
2.2 Orphan Outreaches will take place once a week to the public schools. The orphans are trained in topics e.g. HIV/AIDS, purifying of water, hygiene etc.
2.3 The feeding scheme is still in a very early stage where vulnerable children are given lunch in the afternoons.
2.4 The project is training community members to cultivate their own gardens.
3. The Women’s Program
- Training any skills in the area of expertise.
- Support development of program in areas like sewing, cooking, baking, health issues
